I am searching for information concerning my grandfather, August NEUMANN.
Unfortunately, I do not know his middle name, which I'm sure would be of help. He was born on October 13, 1853 ... it is said ... in Berlin. This I do not know for sure.
My father, John August Neumann always told the story that August and his brother ... name unknown ... emigrated to the U.S. They arrived in New York City and separated, never to contact each other again.
How I wish I would have inquired about the brother's name.
August married Bertha SCHOENHEINZ in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Bertha was born on April 7, 1866 in Stoddard, Wisconsin.
Her parents were John SCHOENHEINZ, born on May 5, 1830 ... it is said ... in Wurtenburg.
He married Theresa FLECK, born May 5, 1830 1830(?) somewhere in Bohemia.
I would dearly love to know more about my German ancestors, because at the present time, they are merely names on a piece of paper. I would appreciate whatever assistance given to me in my search.
