Our family derives from the Slavs Tribe.
The Slavs Tribe has been first recorded as being originally from the Pripet Swamps area, which is today in the Ukraine or to be very precise north-west of the city Kiev. This information leads back to 600 A.D., at a time of early middle age, dominated by pre-christianity as well as tribes as the Huns and Gothens. It was a time far away of today's border lines and sovereignties.
From this cradle of origin, the Slavs were geographically still in Central Europe located. They had very intensive trading links with all the neighbouring tribes from this ideal location, but in particular with the Gotens, Huns, Germans and Turks. The Slavs acquired beyond the trading advantages very specific building knowledge leading to great workmanship. With these talents they eventually became one of the most dominate trading and building tribes of that time. They were without doubt the leaders of establishing new trading places in Europe of those days (still very important cities today), thus my own home town of Lübeck in 819 A.D.
The Slavs, in their own history have experienced a split in various sub-tribes, such as East Slavs (Ukraine, Belarus), West Slavs (Poland, Sorben, Czech, Slovakia) und South Slavs (Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Bulgaria).
Therefore, KUBEs you may find today in all these regions, more or less strongly represented.
Based on my research and thank to the support from you and others, I however, primarily focus on the West Slavs for the time being, i.e. Brandenburg, Neumark, Posen to further south to Silesia and Bohemia, the places, where I could find most KUBE ancestors so far. The largest place of origin, however, is the area east of the city of Berlin, an area in today's Poland.
The concentration of our KUBE family is seen - here red - whilst the greater area of early apperances is shown in "green".
Places of particular settlements before 1750
The following places show a "high density KUBE-settlements" before the 2nd half of the new century and earlier. With this knowledge, it might be fairly assumed that most of our Grand-Grand-Fathers originated directly from these locations.
This list is NOT yet completed and being a result from my present researches. Any further hint from the readers with respect to family connections, between the places or even other not mentioned settlements are very welcome.
